Der Umgang mit dem Regen wassermanagement in Form einer eingeschnitte nen Rasenbühne ist eine intelligente Lösung, mit Starkregenereignissen umzugehen, und schafft es, Funktion und Erholung geschickt zu verknüpfen. Insgesamt weist das Projekt eine attraktive, robuste und zukunftsorientierte Wohnumfeld gestaltung auf und konnte die Jury somit in der Kategorie „Wohnumfeld“ als würdiger Preisträger überzeugen. ■ The former freight yard in Hamburg that was developed as a residential neighbourhood now comprises a central open space and local recrea tion area for a large number of new residents. The urban park is to serve as a ‘green agora’ and social catalyst for an emerging urban community. The project’s combination of multi-layered aspects of contemporary landscape architecture is com pelling. The concept envisages a park with a clear and open structure that is suf fi ciently robust to accommodate various functions and so is able to cater for many different users. At the same time, it allows for different allocations of space and area. A carefully integrated ‘monumental steel skeleton’, the former freight shed, serves as a reminiscence and creates an attractive reference recalling the vanishing history of the place. The stormwater management in the form of a sunken lawn stage is an intelligent solution to deal with heavy rain events and is a clever way of link ing function and recreation. Overall, the project presents an attractive, robust and sustainable scheme for a residential environ ment and so won the jury over as a worthy winner in the residential environments category.

■ Auf dem Areal des ehemaligen Güterbahn hofs in Hamburg be fi ndet sich eine zentrale Frei fl äche, die als Wohnumfeld und Naherholungsort für eine Vielzahl von neuen Anwohnern entwickelt wurde. Dabei soll der zentrale Stadtpark als „grü ne Agora“ und sozialer Katalysator für die entste hende Stadtgemeinschaft dienen. Das Projekt überzeugt durch die Kombination vielschichtiger Aspekte einer zeitgemäßen Land schaftsarchitektur. Das Konzept sieht eine klare und offene Parkstruktur vor, die so robust auf gestellt ist, dass sie verschiedene Nutzungen bereithält und somit einer Vielzahl von Nutzern gerecht wird. Dabei lässt sie aber ebenfalls un terschiedliche Besetzungen von Raum und Fläche zu. Die behutsame Einbindung des „monumentalen Stahlskeletts“ der einstigen Güterhalle dient als Reminiszenz und stellt einen attraktiven Bezug zur verschwundenen Historie des Ortes her.
